Op-Eds

Last week, Juneau hosted an important symbol of America’s renewed commitment to Arctic readiness: the commissioning of the USCGC Storis.
The Storis is the first new polar icebreaker added to the U.S. Coast Guard fleet in more than 25 years.
For Alaska, this is no small thing. It’s a turning point and marks a new era in maritime and Arctic defense — one powered by historic investments and a clear recognition that Alaska stands ready to lead on the front lines of defense.

OPINION:
As the United States navigates an increasingly complex international landscape, it is imperative that we continue to reinforce partnerships with key allies. Our future prosperity and national security require strong, enduring partnerships with our partners in the Indo-Pacific.
When it comes to energy security and reliability for the United States, Alaska stands uniquely poised to serve as a linchpin in strengthening U.S.-Korea ties.

With this administration’s support, Alaska is building with Washington as an ally, not an overbearing parent slapping Alaska with more sanctions than Iran.

When we talk about Alaska’s energy potential – we are talking about more than molecules in the ground or development projects. We’re talking about a true cornerstone of American prosperity and a valuable tool for national security.
